January 15, 2012: "Colorful Leaves" with Laura Wasilowski

Laura WasilowskiLearn the basic principles of designing artwork (like repetition, variety, and contrast) and make a colorful leaf quilt at the same time. Creating art is easy with fused fabrics and is the perfect way to learn about the elements that make a well designed quilt. Your kit includes the fabric colors and values needed for this design tutorial as well as a sampler of embroidery thread for stitching detail, texture, and pattern on the surface. No sewing machine needed!

February 19, 2012: Create a 17" Eight-Pointed Star Quilt with Machine Reverse Appliqué with Cathie Hoover

Cathie HooverFor almost 25 years, Cathie Hoover has been quilting and designing wearable art for herself, her family, and for others. She loves sharing her quilting skills with novice and experienced quilters all over the world.

In this workshop you will make this nine-patch version of a traditional quilt with reverse applique and using your sewing machine. No hand stitching!

March 18, 2012: "Letty's Bag" with Robin Gallagher

Robin GallagherRobin’s number one seller is the ever popular Letty’s Bag. This bag uses eight grommets, fusible fleece and fabric. And for a fun twist, you can work with laminated fabrics. You can learn to laminate your own fabric! There are two sizes: The larger Letty’s Bag and the “Little Letty’s Bag.” Here’s a project where you can go home with a finished purse.

April 14, 2012: "Dogs and Cats" with Nancy Brown

Nancy BrownCome learn all about hand appliqué curves, points, choosing colors, and layering a complex pattern while working on an 8” square pattern of Bella the cat or Arthur the dog. Nancy will also show how to portray the various features of dogs and cats in appliqué. Later in the class there will be a demonstration of how to take a photo of your own pet and make it into an applique pattern. No drawing experience is required!

May 20, 2012: UFO Retreat!

Why sew alone when you could join other quilters working on their projects, too? Not only can you get a lot done—No interruptions like you have at home!—but you can see what everyone else is up to and even get help if you get stuck. Conversation might go from catching up with TV shows to upcoming quilting events. Irons, tables, coffee, and tea will be provided. Just bring your project and sewing machine (if needed).

June 17, 2012: "Texas Tulips" with Becky Goldsmith

Becky GoldsmithLearn the hand appliqué techniques that will help you sew better and happier. In addition to learning easy template making and how to make and use a placement for appliqué, you will perfect your invisible appliqué stitch as you work on your block in class. Stitching techniques include cutaway applique, outer and inner points, and curves. The pattern is included. This class is suitable for all skill levels.
